55 minutes unless otherwise stated
Private Session:
A One-on-one session. Your instructor takes you through many exercises
according to your level. Strict attention is given to form, for a deep-muscle workout. Exercises
are done on the apparatus and the mat.
Duet Session:
A semi-private session (two people). Some Pilates experience is necessary, unless both partners are beginners.
Apparatus Class:
A small group class where students spend a large portion on the Reformer. But, because Pilates is a system, the class also works on the mat and other apparatus. Depending on the level of the class, you may be asked to schedule an evaluation or be required to take private sessions first.
Mat Class:
Exercises are done on Pilates mats. Students work against
gravity, but small items, such as hand weights and magic circles, may be incorporated. Mat class
is a great place to learn exercises you can do anywhere. Depending on the level of the class, you may be asked to schedule an evaluation or be required to take private sessions first.
Apprentice Private Session:
A discounted private session with a teacher trainee (working toward certification). These trainees are teaching uder the supervision of an experienced instructor.
Teacher Training Program:
Pilates Technique Certification, Inc. is the most comprehensive program in Southern California that
teaches authentic Pilates. Since 1995, PTC has certified hundreds of amazing instructors. Find out when the next
program
starts.
Workshops:
Those designed for instructors are led by master or senior instructors, and
sometimes by Elders (students of Joseph Pilates himself). For non-instructors, topics
range from, “Pilates on Vacation: Keep up your program while you are away” to
“Office Pilates: How to integrate Pilates during your work day.” Check our
schedule regularly.
